Ma’Grass is a funk/world band which was born in 2010 by the the vision of Matt G, bassist and producer of the band who has been working with several minor and major artists in the U.K. since 2006. Thanks to the rich musical environment that London has to offer, many other professional musicians who are also part of the scene, have joined the project contributing to make great things happen. This made them share the stage both as support band and sidemen with many affirmed artists like Neville Staples from The Specials, Peter Andre, Linda Lewis, The Impressions, Buena Vista Social Club, Eliza Doolittle, Ben Volpierre from Curiosity Killed the Cat, Ben L’Oncle Soul and a number of other minor but still touring artists. Ma’Grass are set to return with a new LP album in 2016. They have released their debut album called “Fingers in the Socket” in February 2013 which contains six original pieces and it’s available online in multiple stores such as Itunes, Spotify, Juno, Amazon etc. In 2015, the band has released two singles, “Made Up” in February and ”Call it Fire” In August. Also two music video clips were realized, available from the band’s website.
“Their music is a fabulous cocktail between funk, soul, jazz, latin, afro, rock, electro and hip hop … From George Clinton Herbie, Hancock passing through Roy Hargrove. They lay old sounds against a new style for a mixture of their own. A total must see among the crowded London scene, vitality in this band is contagious and their sound will rock anyone!” Camp De Base Production “Sensational band!! The singer is absoultely faboulous and the bassman is as good, if not better than anything i’ve heard over the last 30 odd years. This band I predict, are going to be HUGE.” Mick Stannard, ex Jimmy Page/Mickey Finn bass player. There’s just so much funk in the world – Afrobeat, Funkadelica, jazz-funk, Latin MPB and classic JBs – and this energetic 9-piece from London seem to be on a mission to mash the whole lot up and serve it in one big joyful dance party groove. It’s a big big sound that your feet won’t let you ignore. Wormfood
